Dashboard Formula Widget: Getting Started

Overview

Dashboard Formula Widget enables you to perform dynamic calculations using numbers from your monday.com boards.Unlike the native Numbers widget that only displays individual values, Formula Widget allows you to create complex mathematical operations between different values.

Setup Guide

Add Formula Widget to Your Dashboard

Click the + Add widget button in your dashboard and select the Formula Widget from the list of available widgets.

This is your first step toward creating powerful dynamic calculations on your boards!

💡After adding the widget, you'll see the empty formula view with a prompt to add your first number

Enter Full Screen Mode

⚠️ Important:

To access the widget settings, you must switch to full screen mode. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner of the widget and select "Full screen".

Why full screen mode?

•Formula Widget uses internal settings instead of standard monday widget settings

💡The widget settings are only accessible through the internal settings in full screen mode

Configure Formula Widget Settings

Once in full screen mode, click the settings icon to access the Formula Widget settings. Here you can add dynamic values and create your formula.

💡In the settings view, you can add numbers, create your formula, and set output units

Add Dynamic Values

Click the + Add Number button to add a dynamic value.

For each dynamic value, you can:

Give it a custom name (e.g., "BUDGET", "COST")
Choose calculation type (Count or Columns)
Select which boards, groups, and columns to use as data sources

You can add up to 5 dynamic values to use in your formula.

💡Click on a dynamic value to edit its settings. You can rename values to make your formulas more intuitive

5Create Your Formula

Enter your formula in the "Enter Formula..." field using the names of your dynamic values. Choose an output unit (None, $, €, %, or custom) and click "Update Formula" to save your changes.

Supported operations:

Addition (+)
Subtraction (-)
Multiplication (*)
Division (/)
Parentheses for calculation order ( )

💡 After updating your formula, switch to the display view to see the calculation result by clicking on the home icon in the upper right corner or leaving the full-screen mode

Pro Tips

💫Give your dynamic values descriptive names to make your formulas easier to understand
🔄The widget refreshes data each time it's loaded, ensuring up-to-date calculations
➕You can use simple static numbers in your formula (e.g., "2+2") without adding dynamic values
⚙️To edit your formula later, return to full screen mode and click the settings icon
⚠️If boards, groups, or columns are deleted externally, this may affect your formula results
